Federer takes the Cincinnati Open

World no1 Roger Federer got ready for the U.S open as he owned the warm up Cincinnati title against Novak Djokovic of Serbia who ended the former world no1 Nadal at the semifinal. It was first career title for Federer after becoming father for twin children’s. Swiss hero won the title in direct sets by 1-6, 5-7. In the match, Federer dominated the game from the very beginning as he broke the serve of Serbian in the first set. During the second set, both players fought furiously as they won their serves continuously until 5-5. In the eleventh game, Swiss hero broke the serve of Novak and comfortably served for winning the match. In Federer’s last match, against Andy Murray in semi finals he ended the winning streak of Murray against him. It was the 16th Masters Title series for Federer and he is after Andrew Agassi who got 17 master series. It was also his 61th career title. Federer said,"That's the special part, especially winning for the first time as a dad”. He added, “It gets me going emotionally a little bit, because I know it's been a wonderful summer”. The winning moments of Federer shows that he is fully ready for defending the upcoming series.


Former world no1 backs into tha action

Former world no 1 Rafael Nadal backs into the action. His knees passed the first test at the Montreal maters. This time the Spaniard teamed up with his fellow coach Francisco to beat Dusan Vemic and Novak Djokovic of Serbia by 5-7,4-6 in direct sets. It was positive sign for Nadal’s return. It takes nearly two months for nadal to pass his first test after the shocking French open defeat. Nadal said, “It’s great to be back and I had a lot of fun playing with Francisco”. Between the two month gaps, his rival Federer carried his Wimbledon title along with the world no1 ranking. Meanwhile, the former women’s world no1 Kim Clijsters of Belgium returned to the court at WTA Cincinnati open. She returned with fabulous win against 12th seeded Marion Bartoli of France by 4-6, 3-6 in direct sets. Clijsters retired in the year May 2007, married a American basket ball player and gave birth to her daughter in the year 2008 February. She played strongly, as she lead the first set by 4-0 against the French star and owned the set. During the second set also, she lead the French women by 4-1 and fought back from 0-40 in the last serve to take the match with her.


Stanford Tennis final: Marion Bartoli stuns Venus

Marion Bartoli of France captures the Stanford tennis trophy WTA Bank of West Classic by winning Venus Williams by 2-6, 7-5, 4-6. French star takes nearly two hours and forty five minutes for winning the match. Bartoli had a wonderful start as lead the first set by breaking the serves of Venus and taking the set by 6-2 in forty minutes. During the second set, she starts a lead by breaking Venus serve. She had chance to end the match in the second set itself when she leads Venus by 5-4 but unfortunately she lost three games continue in a row. In the third set, for first six serves it was 3-3 but in the seventh serve she broke the Venus serve which makes her path to take the trophy. Venus had close contact with Stanford as it was her 7th final in the last eight visits. After the match, "It was great to play Venus again, I have a lot of good memories from Wimbledon" said by Bartoli. "I had a great tournament," said by disappointed Venus Williams. She added,"But Marion was just too good today." Bartoli was moved up two positions forward to 12th rank for claiming the title on Monday. Venus still remains in the third position next to Dinara Safina and her sister Serena.


Stanford Tennis-Serena's winning full stop

Samantha Stosur of Australia made a full stop for nine consecutive wins of Wimbledon women’s champ Serena Williams in the quarter final match at WTA Bank of West Classic at Stanford on Friday. Stosur made a victory over Serena by 2-6, 6-3, 2-6 in the match. After winning Stosur said,” It's one of the biggest, if not the biggest win of my career. I would like to take it one more step. I would love to make it to another final. She added, “We don't always play our best tennis every single day. Maybe she didn't play her best and I played very well”. Serena said, “She played well and didn't do anything bad. She went for broke and struck all her balls as hard as she could. She never lets you get into a rhythm”. She added, “She had a lot of lucky shots. She's a good framer. But it's obviously all talent. She has mastered that”. In another match, Serena sister’s Venus William won the quarter final against Maria Sharapova of Russia by direct sets 6-2, 6-2. In her next match, she is meeting Russia’s Elena Dementieva for the semi-final. After the match Venus said, “Maria is one of my favorite opponents. She's always a challenge. I was better in the important points which are what I wanted. She added " I'm going to try and do more of what I did tonight”.
